Biography
Hello, my name is Diane M Gillaspy (Miller). I would like to share with you some information about who I am, where I come from, and where I am going in life. I was born to Oscar and Irene Miller in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. We actually lived in Post Falls, Idaho where I was raised and went to school. there were five of us, me being the youngest.
We attended the Falls Full Gospel Tabernacle in Post Falls. I always loved going to church. It seemed back then that most everyone went to church. I always looked forward to church especially when I was little because I knew I would get candy from Mr. Pixler. I think every church should have a Mr. Pixler.
My sister's and I would sing in church when we were little. My mother use to sing with my older sister. I have always loved music and we grew up on Southern Gospel and that is what I love still today. I can remember we would always sing, "I'll Fly Away", and I love that even today. I think that is the only song we ever sang in church when we were little.
I married Richard M Gillaspy in 1976 and we moved to Montana and lived there several years until the mill shutdown. Needing work, we moved to Elko, NV and went to work for the Gold Mining Industry. We attended the Mt. Zion Church in Elko, Paul Ellis was our Pastor. I began singing with the Praise and Worship Team there and those are some good memories.
While living in Nevada I had the biggest challenge of my life. I lost my mother to kidney caner. She was diagnosed in June of 1996 and passed away July of 1997. I was then diagnosed with kidney cancer in June of 1998. I have survived 10 years now and I am thankful to our Lord and Savior. I guess he must have work for me to do. My husband went through a series of heart problems during this same time. We serve a mighty God. We lost many family members and friends during this same time frame. You wonder how you are going to make it through, then God steps in and carries you through it. After 10 years living in Elko, we moved back to Montana. It was not long after that we lost our son, Rick (my step son). Yet, God is still on the Throne and is in control and we give thanks everyday. One day we will know all the whys and how comes! Until then, we will just keep our trust in Jesus and believe that one day we will live in peace for eternity where there is no pain or sorrows.
While living in Montana, I went back to school and obtained my AAS Degree in Information Technology. I graduated in 2002 and I enjoyed every minute of school as I loved to interact with the young people. I was so impressed with some of those kids at how hard they worked to pay their way through school as most of them held down full time jobs while attending school.
It was living in Montana after getting out of school that I decided to learn to play the guitar. I love music and I love to worship our Lord Jesus Christ. Singing is so soothing to the soul and there is nothing like it in this whole world. I started playing chords and then I started writing music and lyrics. I have some good songs but, I don't have them recorded as of yet. I plan on doing that real soon if God will open that door.
We eventually decided to move where the weather was warmer and we ended up in the Deep South. I figured Arizona was the place but God had other ideas for us, he brought us to Alabama and I am so thankful he did. We knew nothing about the South and now that we are here we love it. Everyone has been so kind and we now know what they mean about that Southern Hospitality! It is true!
We attend and have become members of Arab First Assembly of God where Pastor Ball is a great leader and a good man of God. We love our home church and hope to see it grow as God moves in his Holy Spirit. This is where I met Herb Sims and he then introduced me to his brother Russell Sims of SIMS Records out of Nashville, TN. I have now recorded my first CD and have become a part of a new family of Recording Artists. I want to be open to what God wants me to do. I love singing and I believe that is why he brought us here. I will go where he leads me.
It looks like we have a bright future and I hope to be meeting a lot of new faces as we travel along.
Blessings In Christ Jesus,
Diane M Gillaspy
